Symptoms of type1 diabetes

Diabetes, the very sound of the word spells doom but the good news is that it is not an instant killer. Though it is a frightening, life threatening disease it can be managed and controlled upon early detection. The symptoms are normally very subtle and cannot be recognized in an instant but then it progresses very rapidly. So it will be wise on your part to get a check up the moment you find even the most minor malfunctions in your body which only you know so well.

The disease has been divided into three main categories namely Type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and Gestational diabetes. The root cause of the development of this disease is the malfunctioning of the pancreas. The pancreas is responsible for producing a hormone called insulin. Insulin in turn is responsible for the conversion of glucose into energy. Energy is needed by the body to perform all the day to day activities. When the pancreas fails to produce sufficient amounts of insulin then there is complete chaos in the body system.

Insulin transports the glucose from the bloodstream into the cells. If this is not done then the glucose accumulates in the blood stream and soars to an abnormal high. Excess sugar in the blood is not something the body is built to handle. Type 1 diabetes symptoms take only a few weeks to develop these are increased appetite, weight loss, excessive thirst, increased urination as the body tries to get rid of the excessive glucose in the urine, fatigue, blurred vision and infections like thrush and irritation of the genitals.

When once notices one or more of these symptoms then it is not the time to neglect but go and see a doctor. Neglect will lead to further symptoms like rapid breathing, stomach pain, increased pulse rate and sleepiness. These are not to be taken lightly as it will lead to coma or even death. The disease on the whole requires divine interception but then the doctor’s advice should not be taken in from one ear and out the other. Diabetes can be managed if it is seen to in the early stages.

Carelessness on one’s part is not supported. Fear will keep you from the doctor and a maintained lifestyle. Symptoms unattended can lead to severe kidney damage, heart disease and stroke, nerve damage and blindness. The doctor will advise a good healthy diet and an exercise routine. Medications should be taken
in a timely fashion. When fear and discouragement open their ugly mouths tell them to zip up. Give no room in your head or heart for any one or any thing to get you down.

Type 1 diabetes is also known as auto immune disease where the beta cells that produce the insulin in the pancreas are destroyed. This category is also known as juvenile diabetes. Remember insulin plays an absolutely vital role in the conversion of glucose to energy. Don’t give a chance to the disease to get an upper hand and take your life over. You remain in the driver’s seat and call the shots.

Be positive and full of cheer because everything’s going to be alright!
